The goal is to provide students with an alternative to corporate chain stores by making them aware of local consignment shops and designers, and stores that use recycled and fair-trade goods.
Film Screening of No Impact Man 5pm, Margaret Parsons Theatre
Rene Michalak, from the citizen action group ReThink Red Deer, will follow up the film with a recap of Garbage-Free February over the last 4 years and let you know what's coming up with Sustainable Red Deer projects that students can get involved in over the summer.
Putting The Fun Between Your Legs: Trade Your Car in for a Bike this Spring presented by Mike Kozlowski at 6:45pm, Margaret Parsons Theatre
Let's get together and talk about bikes as real alternatives to cars. In this session, Mike draw on eight years of bicycle commuting and bicycle touring experience to talk about how, despite popular belief, it is very possible in our climate and our culture to be a full time bicycle commuter. Mike will share some of the challenges and advantages associated with year round cycling, some tools and strategies to get you going, and personal experiences that demonstrate how this is a lifestyle that has encouraged him to be more present, drawing him into the moment and ultimately increasing the amount of joy in his life.
