Location: Spruce Lane Organic Farm - 3km north of Blackfalds on Hwy 2A
Saturday August 21st, 2010
9:00 am - 9:00 pm
We're gathering volunteers for an old fashioned work bee at Spruce Lane Organic Farm!
We'll be preparing the 2-acre food forest for planting next year and will need as many hands as we can find. The die-hards will be going from sun up to sun down but the majority of volunteers can help in the morning from 9am to 12pm or from 12pm - sundown, or all day.
We're going to be mowing the field and tilling up the staked out contour lines where the fruit and nut trees will eventually go. We'll need help with unloading, loading and working the machinery, raking and piling up all of the organic matter on the swales and general tasks as they come up - maybe refreshments and getting food from Blackfalds / Lacombe too.
(NOTE: This particular volunteer opportunity is for those 18 years and up and in relatively good physical fitness)
If you're able to help out you must RSVP to info@rethinkreddeer.ca so we know how many people to expect and can make adequate room for parking. As always, car pooling is encouraged.
If you have a sturdy rake and shovel, please bring them along. Proper footwear is a must (no sandals!) and long sleeves, leather work gloves, bug spray / sunscreen, and rain gear are highly recommended. Thanks!
