More and more "sustainability" is a word we're hearing from the mouths and keyboards of citizens of Red Deer. What does this word really mean and how does "being sustainable" affect your day to day life?

On Tuesday, September 22nd at the Red Deer College, organizers of ReThink Red Deer welcomed sustainability experts Lisa Fox of Sustainability Resources Inc. and the Pathways 2 Sustainability (P2S) Conference (www.pathways2sustainability.ca) to talk about how citizens can influence the Provincial Land Use Framework to plan for sustainable communities and cities in addition to the opportunity for citizens of Red Deer to host the P2S Conference in late 2010.

Also presenting was Nina Gales, Manager of Corporate Affairs from the Town of Olds, talking about their Municipal Sustainability Planning (MSP) successes and how citizens become engaged and influential in the process. With the municipal elections coming up in October 2010, sustainability will certainly be a hot debate topic so stay tuned for more info!
