The tour of rainwater harvesting systems in Red Deer ran on the 17th and the interactive seminar ran on the 18th. This event was intended for home owners / renters, property managers, builders, developers, renovators, educators, elected officials, and municipal administrators to present valuable information on both residential and commercial applications - from simple rain barrels to large-scale landscapes (e.g., stormwater management) and professional distribution systems for both indoor and outdoor use. On May 19th, a Rain Barrel sale was held at the Red Deer Public Market and helped raise funds for the Penhold Crossing school's pollinator garden project! 3. Tuesday, June 5 - 6:00pm to 9:00pm - Water Testing at Piper Creek

AWQAJoin us as Trout Unlimited Canada - Central Chapter and the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance assess water quality in Piper Creek at the Piper Creek Restoration Agriculture Project site to commemorate Alberta Water Quality Awareness Day!

Did you know that over 80% of the water in our river comes from overland flow (i.e., precipitation)? That means just about everything we do on the land affects the quality of our water! Over the last few years, data loggers placed along Piper Creek have been measuring water quantity metrics (flow, temperature, etc.) and water quality testing field days have been held to keep track of the state of this section of the Red Deer RIver watershed.

Come and learn about what's been happening and how our project is helping to improve the water quality now and well into the future. You'll be able to get some hands-on opportunity to interpret the data logger info and conduct simple water quality testing (e.g., pH, dissovled oxygen, turbidity, etc.) with the experts from Trout Unlimited Canada and the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance!
